Alan Coffman, DVM
Veterinarian

Dr. Alan Coffman was born and raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, a small oil and ranching town north of Tulsa. His passion for animals began early, as he started volunteering and working at Clinkenbeard Veterinary Clinic and Triple C Ranch under Dr. Clinkenbeard when he was just 12 years old. After graduating from Bartlesville High School in 1992, Dr. Coffman left Oklahoma to serve a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Fresno, California area.

Upon returning, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science (Pre-Vet Emphasis) with a minor in Zoology from Brigham Young University in 1998. His wife, Amy, also graduated from BYU in Elementary Education, leaving Dr. Coffman with a special appreciation for teachers and educators. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University, College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Coffman and his wife, Amy, have two sons. Sam recently returned from a two-year mission in Bogotá, Colombia, and is now a junior at BYU-Idaho, majoring in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. Nathan graduated from Allen High School, where he actively participated in the Vet Tech program and various sports. He is now serving a mission in Argentina. Both boys have earned the rank of Eagle Scout after years of dedication.

Dr. Coffman is deeply involved in his church, singing tenor and bass in the choir and serving in different roles. He also volunteers as a Watch DOG (Dads of Great Students) and community helper at local elementary schools and has received the Lifetime PTA Award for his many hours of service. He serves on the Allen Animal Shelter Committee and has a strong passion for Scouting, having earned his Eagle Scout and served as a Scoutmaster for 10 years.

In his spare time, Dr. Coffman enjoys competing in triathlons, having completed 13 Ironman 70.3 events and two full Ironman 140.6 races in the last five years. At home, he enjoys time with his French Bulldog, Gizmo, along with caring for four turtles and several fish. Dr. Coffman loves practicing veterinary medicine and being part of the Allen, Texas, community—but above all, he loves his family.
